मराठी विकिपीडियाची वाढ: एक विचार[संपादन]
नमस्कार.
सध्या असे दिसून येते की आपण सर्व "मराठी विकिपीडिया" म्हणजे "महाराष्ट्र / मराठी भाषा / मराठी संस्कृती, फारच झाले तर भारत, यांविषयीचा विकिपीडिया" एवढ्याच मर्यादित धोरणाने लेखांचा भरणा करीत आहोत. एक म्हणजे अशा रीतीने मराठी विकिपीडियाची वाढ फारच संथगतीने होईल, व मुख्य म्हणजे विकिपीडियाचा तो उद्देश नाही. मराठी विकिपीडिया हा जागतिक / विश्वव्यापी ज्ञानाचा मराठी भाषेतील कोश व्हावा, हा त्यामागील उद्देश आहे. तरी या दृष्टीने अधिकाधिक व्यापक विषयांवरील लेखांचा यात समावेश करावा, व गरज पडल्यास सरळसरळ इंग्रजी किंवा इतर भाषांतील विकिपीडियांतील काही अविशिष्ट / विशिष्ट लेखांचे भाषांतर करावे.
अर्थात यासाठी कोणीतरी भरपूर वेळेचे योगदान करणे अत्यंत आवश्यक आहे, हे जाताजाता नमूद करावेसे वाटते. तरीसुद्धा "वाढीसाठी एक दिशा" या दृष्टीने याचा योग्य तो विचार व्हावा, ही विनंती.

मराठी विकिपीडियाचे बोधचिन्ह (logo)[संपादन]
नमस्कार.
मराठी विकिपीडियाच्या बोधचिन्हात "The Free Encyclopedia" चे भाषांतर "मुक्त ज्ञानकोश" च्या ऐवजी चुकून "मक्त ज्ञानकोश" असे पडले आहे. यामुळे अर्थाचा अनर्थ होतो, अशी माझी नम्र धारणा आहे. तरी याबद्दल काही करता येईल काय?

First thing is about Wiki.png image and I will modify it so that it can be fit in the space.
Second, please have a look at निर्वाहपृष्ठ as it should be more useful now.

गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून मी मुक्तकोशात भर टाकण्याचा उपक्रम चालविलेला आहे. हे करताना मनात आले कि या कोषास चपखल बसेल असे बोधवाक्य (tagline) समर्थांनी ४०० वर्षांपूर्वीच लिहून ठेवलेले आहे.
माझी समस्त administrator मंडळींना विनंती आहे कि मराठी मुक्तकोषाचे बोधवाक्य 'आपणासी जे जे ठावें, ते दुसऱयांसी सांगावे, शहाणे करूनी सोडावे, सकलजन.' असे करावे.

- I am unable to find time, to contribute more, even if I am willing.
- It is quite needed to hand-over the administration to some other user, who can actively take it and use it with care.

IMHO, this article is politically motivated and full of personal opinions. Is there a policty regarding such articles?
I urge you to state and assert the policy as an administrator of Marathi wikipedia. Without some sort of uniform policy and its enforcement, marathi wikipedia will become another soap box for internet rants.
The above is *NOT* a complaint, rather a genuine concern for the betterment of Marathi Wikipedia as a source of facts and reference material.

Calendar template[संपादन]

The calendar/month template needs change asap. It seems to bring up 2005 no matter what the current date.
For example - जानेवारी १०

I have modified the existing template to conform to 2006 days. Ideally, we should have a 'dynamic' template that will figure out the calendar on its own.
Anyway, we're set for the next 4 weeks.

Spurios page deletion[संपादन]
कोल्हापुरी,
There have been numerous instances of malicious users creating pages with spam. I have been removing content as soon as I notice them. I also post a request to sysops to remove the pages. Most of them still exist?! :-(
I do not have rights to remove pages or else I would do that myself :-)

page deletion (contd)[संपादन]
कोल्हापुरी,
I have created two pages --
- Category:speedy deletion - everytime a facetious page is detected, a user can add that page to this category. Sysops can monitor this category for pages to be deleted.
- Template:पान काढायची सूचना - When a page is placed in this category, this template should be added to it at the top, so the original author has a chance to defend the page creation. If the user that moved the offending page to speedy deletion category forgets to put this warning, the sysops should insert it and let the page exist for another reasonable period of time so the original author still has a chance to defend/correct his addition.

sysop/administrator[संपादन]
कोल्हापुरी,
I have put in a formal request at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_permissions#Marathi.28mr.29 for administrator rights on Marathi wikipedia. I think being a sysop will allow me to carry forward all the stuff I'm doing better/easier. It will also give us an active admin in the western hemisphere (I live in the US)
I have posted my request to wikipedians at the talk page for administrators. Please post your opinion on my request and encourage others to vote (yes or no) so the stewards can make a decision.
