Dear Shri. Aniruddha Pranjape, Sorry I first I typed reply in Marathi but made mistake of not saving so I am replying you in english.Please keep contributing apropriately. Dont fear too much many of us keep watch on 'Alikadil Badal' and if some one is going wrong we can revert in fraction of minutes. You can refer to your old edits in page history of relevant page.One can object reverts on talk page or chavadi or can simply revert a revert too. but preferably avoid the last choice of reverting a revert before a discussion.

नमस्कार,
युनिकोड देवनागरीमध्ये टंकन करताना ऍ ला अ+अर्धचंद्र असे (अजून) लिहिता येत नाही (मला तरी माहिती नाही). युनिकोड देवनागरी मुख्यतः हिंदी/संस्कृत भाषांसाठी तयार केली गेलेली लिपी असून त्यात अजून सुधारणा सुरू आहेत. आशा आहे अ+अर्धचंद्र लिहिण्याची सोय लवकरच मिळेल. मला कळले की तुम्हाला लगेचच कळवीन.

- विकिपीडियात साचा मुख्यत्वे दोन पद्धतींनी बनवण्याची प्रथा आहे. यात पहीला प्रकार आपण दुहेरी महीरपी कंस वापरून {{आत लिहीलेला शब्द}} जी लाल रंगाचा दुवा बनवतो त्या पानावर जावून लेखन करावे. दूसरी पद्धत नवीन लेख बनवण्याच्या खिडकीत Template:साच्याचे नाव किंवा
[[Template:साच्याचे नाव]] अशी पण वापरता येते.
साचाःयाया & साचा:याया[संपादन]
Till today I was using word Template: to create a template.Today , while making a संक्षिप्त शिर्षक साचा याया instead of welcome I faced a new problem because I used word साचा and sign : and created article साचाःयाया thinking that it is a template but subsequently I realised it is just an article not a template because : sign has become visarga chinha so intended साचा:याया is still blank at marathi wiktionary.
I think we may face simmiller problems here also because in number of Marathi input systems : is used to create visarga. Any solutions ?

- The difference between चा: and चाः is that the colon after the first चा is written in English (roman script) where as the second : is written in devanagari. In fact, in the second case, the visarg has become part of the चा syllable. Hence the issue. To add a colon, switch back to roman script, add the colon then switch back to devanagari.
Best approach is to type name of category, then use the {{}} button above to create the template.

फ्रांसिस्को दि मोंटेजो[संपादन]
The correct pronunciation of फ्रांसिस्को दि मोंटेजो is फ्रांसिस्को दि मोंतेहो. In spanish, the letter 'j' is used to denote the 'h' sound. Also, फ्रांसिस्को is the right pronunciation.
Same goes for Pueblo. I live 50 miles north of a town called Pueblo and trust me, पेब्लो IS the right pronunciation.
Pls revert your edits on the pre-columbian template.

well, but Fransisco? I heard diffrent voice.
- Francisco is the right spelling in English and it is no different than San Francisco. The anglicized pronunciation in Age of Empires (I'm a fan of that game too!!) is probably what's throwing you off. :-)

- Again, the डी is the anglicized version. If you hear french/spanish/portugues/any East European language, it will be clear that दि (with a short i sound) is the right sound.
- Also, the 'j' being used for 'h' sound in spanish (with very very few exceptions) is a fact. It would help all Marathi speakers/readers to get the pronunciation right.
- I am Abhay Natu. I am an admin of Marathi Wikipedia.

Oh, then Why you not login? I will see Spanish & East European Languages pronunciation then I will change it tomarrow. I was belived you are staying in Maharashtra especially Pune.
- I can not login using my regular account because it needs devnagari keyboard for user name and password (which I can not cut-paste from baraha).
- I live in Colorado and I am fortunate to be surrounded by people from diverse cultures ranging from Japan, China to Mexico, Australia and even countries such as Mali, South Africa, Bulgaria!!

'अभिजात' = Classical, परिष्कृत(refined), कुलीन परंपरा असलेला, सभ्य.
अभिजात शब्दाच्या या विविध छटा आहेत. त्यातील इंग्लिश मधील Classical या शब्दाला सुसंगत छटा याच शब्दात मला जाणवते. याचे काही उपयोग वानगीदाखल सांगतो: Classical music = अभिजात संगीत, Literary classics/classical literarure = अभिजात साहित्यकृती/ अभिजात साहित्य, classical art = अभिजात कला. हे शब्दप्रयोग रूढ आहेत.
मला वाटते, मी आधीच्या चर्चेत कुठेतरी अभिजातचा अर्थ सांगितला होता.. आता स्वतंत्रपणे पोस्ट टाकून अर्थ सांगितला आहे.

अनिरुद्ध, तुम्ही International Phonetic Alphabet पद्धतीविषयी विचारत होतात. त्याबद्दल 'माहितगार' यांनी कुठेतरी 'आंतरराष्ट्रीय उच्चारानुसारी लिपी' का तत्सम कुठल्यातरी नावाने इथे/ विक्शनरीवर लिहिले होते. त्यांची याबाबत कदाचित मदत होऊ शकेल. मला जितपत माहिती आहे तितपत सांगायचे झाले तर, त्या पद्धतीतली चिन्हे वापरायला हरकत नाही. पण त्यांचा उच्चार कसा होतो याकरता या लिपी पद्धतीविषयी सविस्तृत लेख लिहिणेदेखील आवश्यक वाटते.

Can you provide a basis for moving Mongol to Mangol other than what Age of Empire says? Another user, priya, has extensively researched this topic and I believe it was she that created the page as mongol. I'd like to hear your reason for changing the pronunciation.
As a rule, please do not change established article names without credible references.

References? well, I heard many time Mongol is मंगोल.
- Oxford Dictionary's(Computer Program) audio file speaks मंगोल.
- Mongol word is turned from Mongolia, a word for habbit of Mongolia. Mongolia is मंगोलिया, so Mongol is मंगोल.
- विश्वकोश also shows मंगोल for Mongol.

Country categories[संपादन]

I saw that you added new categories for countries by continent. When you add countries to their respective continent categories, do not remove them from the generic, all-encompassing देश category, rather add the newly created categories to the country articles.

- That's right. Do not remove country categories from देश category.
Recently I heard about Spanish, in some words d was used as द and t was त. If we fowllowed this pronunciation, then "cortez" will be कोर्तेझ. But I heard many time "cortez" as कोर्टेझ. What is right?
- The कोर्टेझ pronunciation is used by speakers of languages that do not have soft sounds, e.g. English, German. They are not even aware that such sounds exist! The right pronunciation of a word is the one used by native speakers of the language to which the word belongs, so कोर्तेझ, पेद्रो are the right way to speak these words. Inability of a non-native speaker to pronounce a certain sound from a given language does not mean that the language has to change...it is the other way around, the speaker must learn or adapt to speak the language properly.
- Sometimes, it is impossible to transliterate words in certain foreign languages into Devnagari (see चर्चा:देवनागरी for more discussion on this.) As an example, Tamil has two ळ sounds, devnagari can only transliterate one of them. In such cases, we try to stick to the closest pronunciation. That is a short-coming of devnagari, not Tamil, Xhosa or an assortment of languages that have more sounds than devnagari.

- I noticed that you have been changing country article names without consulting anyone. Pls stop that. These names have been chosen according to a standard. If you have a problem with one of them, write on चावडी and get concurrence from other users.

- What you need is a bit of original background. Your knowledge is only as good as the source...No offense to the creator of the marathi ATLAS, but they are not right all the time.
1. Lithuania is लिथुआनिया. see [Hindi Edition
- Most countries in Europe with similar names are named in a standard way - बल्गेरिया, रोमेनिया, चेकोस्लोव्हेकिया...
2. Cameroon is केमेरून. see [Sanskrit Edition]
- I have no authentic source to independently verify this, so I will accept your assertion, for now.
3. Vietnam is व्हिएटनाम. I read in many books, newspaper! Some marathi books - सन्स ऑफ फॉर्च्युन etc.
- See the above discussion about native language...Marathi books tend to use anglicized pronunciations. In effect, they are doing a double trans-literation --- Native-to-English and English-to-Marathi. In the process, a lot of details is missed. It would be a shame for Marathi Wikipedia to parrot English pronunciations just because the reference used did not take care to trans-literate native names properly. Vietnamese langauges do have the soft sounds and they *do* pronounce the name as व्हियेतनाम.
Regardless of the above example, I'd like to stress that you should not change article names without consulting someone here, preferably on चावडी. All of us are trying to do the right thing, and some of your actions are actually detrimental to the task here. I could use the time spent in arguing with you to much better effect.
I do not doubt that you love geography and Marathi Wikipedia...you would not be here otherwise. I'm trying to make sure that both our energies are spent in furthering the cause within the set of rules we operate in, rather than arguing about every other edit you make!

केन्या is the native pronunciation. There alreay is a redirect केनिया that points to केन्या, so if someone's looking/searcing for केनिया, they will get to the right page. The page will also mention that केन्या is a redirect of केनिया.

'वर्ग:अझ्टेक दैवते' वर्गाच्या नावात 'दैवते' असेच लिहावे; 'देवता' लिहू नये कारण नंतर 'देव' (पुल्लिंगी) व 'देवता'(स्त्रीलिंगी) असे आणखीन उपवर्ग करता येतील. Aniruddha, you are creating templates with shortform names. The names themeselves are not self-explaatory and there is no description provided on the template page. This way, the purpose of all these templates will always puzzle any other contributor.
So, to rectify it, I suggest you to write the purpose of each template in explcit, unambiguous way on each template page.

The templates you have created/moved का-न, पू-रा, etc have a rather cryptic naming convention that is not obvious to someone that might try to reuse them.
Consider either moving the templates to names that make a little more sense or document full names and usage of each template within the <noinclude></noinclude> tags.

- They definitely are cryptic if they do not convey what they are supposed to do/display either in the name itself or in the description. For someone other than the creator, it makes no sense.

And if you want to use then use साचा:कारकीर्द साचा. Computer programming language (codes) isn't cryptic?
1. It's not about me using these templates. I'm talking about a lay-person trying to contribute to wikipedia 1-2-5-10 years from today. Probably, neither you nor I will be around to guide that person in this regard. Most importantly, that person will have no clue as to who to ask, even a few weeks from today. That's why everything you create must be either self-explanatory or published with clear guidelines.
2. Computer programming language is cryptic. We're not trying to create something here that can only be used by geeks and programmers who pride themselves (myself included) in remembering acronyms and vaguely suggestive mnemonics. Wikipedia is mainly for subject matter experts who may or may not (most likely will not) have an aptitude for deciphering these mnemonics, let alone read someone's mind.
I hope I have made myself clear. Creating cryptically-named templates whose sole use is as a sub-structure of another template is alright, but if you expect (as you must) a template or any other page to be used by another person, it must be named clearly.
