अपसूर्य बिंदू व उपसूर्य बिंदू

अपसूर्य बिंदू व उपसूर्य बिंदू हे perihelion/aphelion करता वापरलेले शब्द वस्तुतः कक्षेत फिरणार्‍या कोणत्याही वस्तूस लागू होतात. तरी यांसाठी सूर्याचा उल्लेख नसलेले शब्द आहेत का?

जयंत नारळीकरांच्या ’अवकाशाशी जडले नाते’ या पुस्तकात perhelion(=उपसूर्य बिंदू)/aphelion(=अपसूर्य बिंदू) हे शब्द सर्वसाधारण लंबवर्तुळाकार कक्षेची संकल्पना समजावतानादेखील वापरल्याचे दिसते(कदाचित संपादनत्रुटी). पण खरे तर सर्वसाधारण उदाहरणांकरता अधिक योग्य शब्द योजायला हवा. दीर्घवर्तुळाकार कक्षेच्या 'centre of gravity' म्हणून ओळखल्या जाणार्‍या बिंदूला कक्षेचा ’नाभीबिंदू’ म्हणतात (संदर्भ:नारळीकरांचे उपरिनिर्दिष्ट पुस्तक). त्या बिंदूपासून जवळ/दूर असणे अशा अर्थाने Periapsis/Apapsis हे शब्द ’उपनाभी बिंदू’(नाभी बिंदू पासून जवळ - ’उप’प्रत्ययाचा अर्थ), ’अपनाभी बिंदू’(नाभी बिंदूपासून दूर - ’अप’ प्रत्ययाचा अर्थ) या नावांनी नेमकेपणाने दाखवले जातील.

Equivalent english/greek words are apogee/perigee.

Actually, 'gee' part of those words stand for 'Geo' - the Earth. Hence Perigee/Apogee would mean ’उपपृथ्वी बिंदू’/’अपपृथ्वी बिंदू’. While describing a generic system involving objects running in an elleptic orbit, 'Periapsis/Apapsis' are used - which could be better translated as ’उपनाभी बिंदू’/’अपनाभी बिंदू’.

In the English Wiki version of this template, two more seldom-used words appear - 'Apoastron'/'Periastron'. They are used in the context of a star/astronomical body which seems to revolve around another one in an apparent orbit; and the closest/farthest points of the first one's orbit w.r.t. the other one are termed as Periastron/Apoastron. Though I have doubts about standard translation of these two words, I'd suggest 'उपख बिंदू’/'उपखगोल बिंदू’, ’अपख बिंदू’/'अपखगोल बिंदू’ as candidates.

My suggestion was to use generalized words describing points closest/furthest from an object for another object orbiting it in an elliptical fashion.

नाभी seems arbitrary in that it has no connection (that I can think of) to geometry/orbit otherthan to perhaps imply center.

Other suggestions?

From the Geometry stand-point, 'नाभी बिंदू' means the 'focus' of an ellipse. In the context of astronomy, star/main planet is considered as the focus of the elliptic orbit that its satellite traces. So, the closest/farthest points in a generic astro-system are better represented by 'उप/अपनाभी बिंदू', IMO.

Also, if the template is to be used specifically for solar system planets/ earth, it has facility to use other accurate words - 'उप/अपसूर्य बिंदू','उप/अपपृथ्वी बिंदू', by specifying the precise suffix the user intends to use.
