सेंटिनेली भाषा हे भारताच्या अंदमान व निकोबार बेटांमधील, उत्तर सेंटिनल बेटावर राहणाऱ्या सेंटिनली लोकांच्या देण्यात एक नाव आहे भाषिकदृष्ट्या अभ्यास न केलेल्या भाषेला दिलेले तात्पुरते नाव आहे. सेन्टिनेली लोक आणि उर्वरित जगाचा संपर्क नसल्यामुळे त्यांच्या भाषेविषयी किंवा त्यातील चैतन्य याबद्दल फारशी माहिती नाही. [१] सेंटिनली लोक त्यांच्या बेटावर बाहेरील लोकांना येऊ देत नाहीत आणि सामान्यत: अभ्यागतांकडे वैरभाव दाखवितात. [२] मैत्रीपूर्ण संवाद खूपच कमी वेळा घडले आहेत. [३]
वर्गीकरण[संपादन]
असे मानले जाते की या बेटावरचे लोक एकच भाषा बोलतात आणि ती भाषा अंदमानी भाषाकुळातील एक सदस्य आहे. संस्कृती आणि तंत्रज्ञान बद्दल जी थोडी माहिती उपलब्ध आहे आणिया बेटाचे भौगोलिक सामीप्य लक्षात घेता असे मानले जाते कि सेंटिनली भाषा मोठ्या अंदमानी भाषांशी नव्हे तर जारवा सारख्या ओंगी भाषांशी संबंधित असावी. [४] दस्तऐवजीकृत प्रसंगी जेव्हा ओंगे- भाषिक लोकांना संप्रेषणाचा प्रयत्न करण्यासाठी उत्तर सेंटिनेल बेटावर नेले गेले, तेव्हा तेथील रहिवाशांनी बोलल्या भाषेस ते ओळखू शकले नाहीत. [५] जरवा आणि सेंटिनेली भाषा परस्पर दुर्बोध आहेत अशी नोंद केली गेली आहे. [६]
स्थिती[संपादन]
सेन्टिनेझ भाषेला बेटातील अज्ञात लहान भाषिक लोकसंख्येमुळे (अंदाजे १०० ते २५०) विलुप्त होणायच्या धोक्यात म्हणून वर्गीकृत केले गेले आहे; [७] [८] भारत सरकारचा इथल्या लोकसंख्येचा अंदाज १०० आहे. [९]

The first batch could identify 31 Sentinelese. The second batch could count altogether 39 Sentinelese consisting of male and female adults, children and infants. During both the contacts the enumeration team tried to communicate with them through some Jarawa words and gestures, but, Sentinelese could not understand those verbal words.
