This new version of the Geobox template, also known as Geobox 2, is an infobox for all types of geographical locations. It supersedes the old geobox template, Geobox 1. As of Geobox 2, there is no need for several additional templates to display particular geographical features, but rather just one template that can handle the same types of data also used in Geobox 1, along with several new features. |

- automated locator dot placement on maps, based on coordinates or X/Y values
- automated unit conversion from metric to imperial or reverse

- international categories, (e.g., World Heritage Site), eliminating the need for a second infobox on the same page
Why were these geoboxes created?
[संपादन]- To provide a means for creating consistently-formatted tables and summarizing information
- To improve navigation between articles within closely-related subjects
- To maximize the ease of creating and upgrading infoboxes
- To improve the ease of transferring information to other language Wikipedias by using standardized, database-like fields
