Remember that in spanish, portuguese and many european languages (I believe all except English, German, Dutch and their derivatives,) soft t, d do exist. In some cases, such as spanish, protuguese, the harsh T, D do *not* exist. So for example, Pedro is really pronounced as पेद्रो and not पेड्रो.
