English: Early in his career Tom Skinner directed the television program that became the Academy Award-winning documentary feature hosted by Stanley Kramer. In those years only one statuette was awarded to the producing organization. Here is a photograph of the Oscar that resides at the headquarters of the Western Behavioral Sciences Institute in LaJolla, California. The distinguished psychologist, Dr, Carl Rogers (“On Becoming a Person”) and producer William McGaw with whom Tom collaborated on the film were based at the Institute. Carl Rogers, Bill McGaw, and Tom later collaborated on three additional programs based on the format Tom invented for “Journey into Self.
