It has been suggested by Fvasconcellos (talk · contribs · count · global contribs) that this media object be renamed to “File:Air Force Ensign of India.svg” or another more suitable name for the following reason:

Criterion 3 (To correct obvious errors in filenames, including misspelled proper nouns, incorrect dates, and misidentified objects or organisms.) · This flag is currently in use, so the year of introduction should not be included in the file name. This is as per Commons' long-standing practice of naming flag images "Flag of XXX.svg" without a year of introduction unless the flag has been retired from use. It also can be confused for implying this flag was only used in 2023, as per the naming styles for flags such as File:Flag of Burundi (1966).svg, File:Flag of Zimbabwe Rhodesia (1979).svg, and File:Flag of Jamaica (1962).svg, which were only used for 1 year or less and for that reason include both their year of introduction and year of retirement as a single year.


This rename will require the assistance of an administrator and the deletion of the redirect of the same name on File:Air Force Ensign of India (1950–2023).svg. Fry1989 eh? 16:30, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
