नमस्कार! गेल्या तीन वर्षांपासून, मराठी विकिपीडियावर विकिपीडिया आशियाई महिना (WAM) असे कार्यक्रम आयोजित केला जाते. हा कार्यक्रम आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर यशस्वी असते, विविध विकिपीडिया प्रकल्पात शेकडो संपादकानीं आशियायी विषयांवर हजारो लेख तयार करतात.

@अभय नातू: अरविंद थत्ते या पानावरचा 'पुरुष चरित्रलेख' हा वर्ग 'ज' यांनी काढून टाकला असल्याबद्दल मी त्या लेखाच्या चर्चा पानावर विचारले असता 'ज' यांनी माझ्या चर्चापानावर वरील उत्तर दिले आहे. आपण हा वर्ग पूर्ववत केलेला पाहिला. त्यामुळे हा वर्ग सध्याच्या मराठी विकिपीडियावरील पद्धतीनुसार योग्य आहे, असे दिसते. वरील उत्तराकडे आपले लक्ष वेधू इच्छिते. ज्ञानदा गद्रे-फडके (चर्चा) १८:३१, ६ जुलै २०२० (IST)

विकिवर स्त्री-पुरुष, लेखक-लेखिका, इ. मध्ये भेद असू नये हे तुमचे मत आहे. माझेही असेच मत आहे.

तुम्ही बारकाईने पाहिले असेल तर स्त्री चरित्रलेख व पुरुष चरित्रलेख या दोन वर्गांमध्ये मोडणाऱ्या वर्गांमध्ये विकिपीडिया मुळीच भेद करीत नाही. असे भेद करणारी संपादने खपवून घेतली जाणार नाहीत.

या वर्गांनी या लेखांचे वर्गीकरण केले जाते. हे वर्गीकरण केल्याने विकिपीडियावर स्त्री व पुरुष चरित्रलेखांच्या संख्येत किती तफावत आहे हे लगेचच दिसून येते. हा अनवधानाने होणारा भेद संपादकांना दिसल्याने तो कमी करण्यासाठी त्यांना पावले उचलावीशी वाटतात व हा भेद कमी होतो.

असे असता तुमचा युक्तिवाद असा भेद कमी करण्याविरुद्ध आहे असेच वाटते.

याशिवाय हे दोन्ही वर्ग पानावर थेट दिसत नाहीत व त्यामुळे लेखांमध्ये दर्शनी भेद या वर्गांमुळे येत नाही हे सुद्धा लक्षात घअयावे.

तुम्ही असे वर्ग काढणार नाहीत ही अपेक्षा.

तुम्ही शिखंडी, बॉबी डार्लिंग, इ. व्यक्तींची उदाहरणे दिलीत. या व्यक्ती स्वतःला कोणत्या लिंगाचे समजतात यावरुन त्यांच्यावरील लेखांचे वर्गीकरण करावे. पूर्वी स्त्री, पुरुष आणि (फार तर) तृतीयपंथी असे वर्गीकरण समाजात केले जात असे. अलीकडे यात अनेक वर्गांची भर पडलेली आहे. प्रत्येक व्यक्तीला स्वतः आपले लिंग ठरविण्याची मुभा आहे. अशा व्यक्तींच्या स्वओळखीबद्दल थेट संदर्भ मिळाल्यास त्यांच्यावरील लेखांचे त्याप्रकारे वर्गीकरण करावे.

Wikimedia Foundation Community Board seats: Call for feedback meeting

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. As a matter of fact, there had only been one member who served on the Board, from South Asia, in more than fifteen years of history.

In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees? In this regard, it would be good to have a community discussion to discuss the proposed ideas and share our thoughts, give feedback and contribute to the process. [Wikimedia Foundation elections 2021] Candidates meet with South Asia + ESEAP communities

As you may already know, the 2021 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees elections are from 4 August 2021 to 17 August 2021. Members of the Wikimedia community have the opportunity to elect four candidates to a three-year term. After a three-week-long Call for Candidates, there are 20 candidates for the 2021 election.

An event for community members to know and interact with the candidates is being organized. During the event, the candidates will briefly introduce themselves and then answer questions from community members. The event details are as follows:

• Date: 31 July 2021 (Saturday)
• Timings: check in your local time

• Bangladesh: 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm
• India & Sri Lanka: 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm
• Nepal: 4:15 pm to 6:45 pm
• Pakistan & Maldives: 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

• Live interpretation is being provided in Hindi.
