                CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ - THE LEGEND  
  

He founded the Hindu kingdom in the Deccan against all odds , fighting against the mighty Mughals.He inspired and united the common man to fight against the tyranny of Mughal ruler Aurangjeb, by inculcating a sense of pride and nationality in them.

At the age of 16, he took a pledge to establish a sovereign Hindu state.He clearly outstands all the rulers and generals of India by the exemplary life he lived and is thus respected by the entire cross section of Indians. Shivaji's military skills could be compared to those of Napolean.

He raised a strong army and navy, constructed and repaired forts, used gureilla warfare tactics,developed a strong intelligence network,gave equal treatment to the people from all religions and castes based on merit, and functioned like a seasoned Statesman and General. He appointed ministers with specific functions such as Internal security,Foreign affairs,Finance,Law and Justice,Religious matters,Defence etc.

He introduced systems in revenue collection and warned the officials against harassment of subjects.He thought ahead of times and was a true visionary.In his private life, his moral virtues were exceptionally high.His thoughts and deeds were inspired by the teachings of his mother Jijabai,teacher Dadaji Konddev,great saints like Dnyaneshwar & Tukaram and the valiancy and ideals of the Lords Rama and Krishna.

The tiny kingdom established by Chhatrapati Shivaji known as "Hindavi Swaraja" (Sovereign Hindu state) grew and spread beyond Attock in Northwest India (now in Pakistan)and beyond Cuttack in East India in course of time, to become the strongest power in India. After the death of Chhatrapati Shivaji & his son Sambhaji, their prime ministers or ‘the Peshwas' became the defacto rulers. The Peshwas and the Maratha Sardars (Chieftans) like Shindes of Gwalior, Gaekwads of Baroda & Holkars of Indore contributed to the growth of the Maratha Confederacy.

The history of India is incomplete without the history of Marathas and Shivaji is the nucleus of Maratha history. Shivaji has been a source of inspiration and pride to the past generations and will continue to inspire generations in future. We salute this legend and humbly dedicate this website to him.

This person has been removing references to गो-ब्राह्मण प्रतिपालक and दादोजी कोंडदेव from this article.

The motivations behind this COWARDLY attempts are obvious. I request this person to log in as a legitimate user and engage in a civil discussion about the changes s/he wants to make.

If s/he is able to produce credible references to support the attempted changes, they (the changes, along with references) will be included on the article.

Until then, edits such as those mentioned will be reverted and if the user does not desist, the article shall be put under moderation.

there is no contemporory evidence in any historical document that Dadu Konddeo is mentor (teacher, guide, inspiration...etc)of Chatrapati Shivaji Raje. Morever Cultural Deptt of Maharashtra has sent a letter to Pune Munciple Corporation that Dadu Konddeo is mentor of Chatrapati Shivaji Raje has no historical proof. (ref: Indian express, 17 June)

Go-Brahman Pratipalak is what Go (Cow) and Brahman appealed to Chatrapati Shivaji Raje, obviously this is brahman idea to call Raje by 'Go-Brahman Pratipalak '. There is only one document (Letter) that offers Raje by this Upadhi . Raje himself never prefer by this upadhi. Brahman mhanoni kay mulahija ase. and refer Ramdas by gosavi in one of his letter has evidence.

Dear Mr Maral (if that's your real name),

There is no need to direct the evidence at me. I am not the person that verifies the truth in assertions made here, nor am I one that takes sides in fights here (in most cases.)

I am asking for reference if you have any and you apparently have provided some. Whether or not they are credible is a separate issue. History and sociology not being the subjects I claim to be an authority in, I am not the best judge of your (or anyone else's assertions.) Hopefully, an expert will show up and correct your version to something that's fact based.

You say that there is no contemporory evidence in any historical document that Dadu Konddeo is mentor (teacher.... So you are basing your assertions on a lack of evidence to the contrary?!!??! Heh... As for go-brahman-pratipalak being a brahmin idea all you came up with is more assertions and no real evidence. But I'm not here to criticize your logic (or a total lack thereof.) Write what you feel like, as long as you're ready to back it up and/or admit mistakes when pointed out by an expert. (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt when you refer to Dadoji Konddeo as 'Dadu' Konddeo. I'm assuming that it's not meant as a sign of disrespect...)

दादोजी कोंडदेवांच्या योगदानाबद्दल माहिती देताना मी बाबासाहेब पुरंदरे ह्यांच्या "राजा शिवछत्रपती" या पुस्तकाचा आधार घेतला आहे. ह्या विषयावरील मतभेदाबद्दल मी ऐकले आहे, परंतु मला आधार सापडले नाहीत. कॄपया ह्या मतभेदासंबंधीचे आधार देवून मग लेखामध्ये बदल केले जाऊ शकतील का?
