सर्वेपल्ली राधाकृष्णन' हे भारताचे माजी राष्ट्रपती व नामांकित शिक्षणतज्‍ज्ञ हाते. डॉ सर्वेपल्ली राधाकृष्णन (०५ सप्टेंबर १८८८ - १७ एप्रिल १९७५) हे भारताचे भारताचे पहिले उपराष्ट्रपती आणि दुसरे राष्ट्रपती होते. त्यांच्या कार्यकाळ (इ.स. १९५२ - इ.स. १९६२)असा आहे. त्यांचा जन्म दक्षिण भारतात तिरुत्तनि या ठिकाणी झाला. हे गाव चेन्नई (मद्रास) पासून ईशान्येला ६४ किमी अंतरावर आहे. राधाकृषणन यांचा ५ सप्टेंबर हा जन्मदिवस भारतात शिक्षक-दिन म्हणून साजरा केला जातो.

'पाश्चात्त्य जगताला भारतीय चिद्‌वादाचा तात्त्विक परिचय करून देणारा भारतावरील ब्रिटिश सत्ताकाळातला महत्वाचा विचारवंत' म्हणून राधाकृष्णन यांना ओळखले जाते. भारतीय तत्त्वज्ञानाचे भाष्यकार म्हणून ते ऑक्सफर्डमध्ये नावाजले गेले. त्यांच्या कार्याचे महत्त्व जाणून ऑक्सफर्ड विद्यापीठानेत्यांच्या नावाने 'राधाकृष्णन मेमोरियल बिक्वेस्ट' हा पुरस्कार ठेवला आहे.[२].

राधाकृष्णन यांच्या जीवनात तीन प्रमुख प्रश्न होते. पहिला प्रश्न असा की, नीतिमान पण चिकित्सक, विज्ञानोन्मुख पण अध्यात्मप्रवण असा नवा माणूस कसा निर्माण करता येईल? या दृष्टीने शिक्षणाचा काही उपयोग होऊ शकेल का? दुसरा प्रश्न असा होता की, प्राचीन भारतीय तत्त्वचिंतन सर्व जगाला आधुनिक भाषाशैलीत, आधुनिक पद्धतीने कसे समजावून सांगता येईल? भारतीय तत्त्वचिंतनाचे वैभव जगाला नेमकेपणाने कसे सांगावे? कसे पटवून द्यावे? तिसरा प्रश्न असा होता की; मानव जातीचे भवितव्य घडवण्यासाठी सांस्कृतिक संचिताचा उपयोग किती?' कुणाशीही ते याच तीन प्रश्नांच्या अनुरोधाने बोलत, असे नरहर कुरुंदकर लिहितात.[३]
