Dear Mahitgar,

I genuinely hope that Marathi wikipedia should get popular.Only point which i want to raise is,we can give our POV,thought not passing any judgements here,as this is Marathi wikipedia and not be so lenient to endorse Karnataka's cause.I just dont what that Deccan Herald artcile to be linked here as we all know it has no credibilty(its a Karnataka newspaper),or if u want to include it plz include a reference which provides a comprehensive explaination of Maha's stand.

With central govt's notorious stand,im feeling more insecure and i will certainly not allow any pro-kannadi stand in English or Marathi wikipedia. Why dont we call for editors and even endorse Marathi wikipedia in the sites u mentioned? (महाविकी 05:55, 28 ऑगस्ट 2006 (UTC))

2.While we boast about more than 5000 articles most of them are lacking in content that is huge work.

माहितगार, तुम्ही म्हणताय तसा लेख लिहिण्याची आवश्यकता आहेच. लवकरच त्याबद्दल लिहू इच्छितो. तो लेख इंग्लिशमध्ये लिहिण्याऐवजी मराठीत असावा असे मला वाटते.

तसेच त्या लेखाच्या शीर्षकाकरता नाव सुचवू शकाल काय? "शीर्षकलेखनाचे संकेत" किंवा "मार्गदर्शक नियमावली: शीर्षकलेखनाचे संकेत" वगैरे कसे वाटते?

Regarding Unicode to/from ITRANS

Thanks for your message on my talk page. The article संगणक टंक is indeed quite comprehensive for a beginner. But looking at it now it seems that I have personally tried and rejected most of the fonts, software, input schemes and what not. I will try the remaining ones and I already see a few things missing there that I will add.

As of Baraha, it supports excellent conversions but I found it too cumbersome for me to use. Also it does not run on Linux, my OS of choice.

Hi, I saw your comment at Hindi wikipedia main page. Just wanted to let you know that I am trying to put interwiki links on Hindi wikipedia articles. Many times the contributors are new and not aware of interwiki concept at all. Or sometime they do not spend much time to find interwiki links. Let me ensure you that with experience contributors do start putting interwiki links. Meanwhile you are welcome to put interwiki links at hindi wikipedia articles. I will try to do same at Marathi wikipedia atleast. Marathi wikipedia because it is one of the languages I can read and understand little. Liked the progress of marathi wikipedia. Hopefully co-ordination among Indic wikis will improve in coming days.

Nice to get your reply. I agree about the area of co-ordination and working on articles regarding indic script setup and fonts. Interwiki links are obvious and we should try to put it in almost all the articles possible. About chapter for india, I found mailing list, wikimedia chapter for india, infact one orkut community for same. These efforts are in-active. People started it and joined it but there is not much activity. We can either take an effort, devote time to bring these live or create new ones. But the bottom-line is that people should be excited about this concept of sharing knowledge, it should be fun and easy. Same thing about wictionary. What do you mean by exceptions in copyright laws? If possible we should work together and share the ideas to make contribution in wiki easy and fun. We could start it by working on help pages etc.

There is no sysop or admin on wikitionary marathiso there is no way to install davanagari script on it. May be you should ask to be one on meta in order to intall it. tatari

Hi, to install, the script you will have to copy the last part of http://ne.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Monobook.js from the line ( document.write('<script type="text/javascript .. .to the end of the file) and paste it into http://mr.wiktionary.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Monobook.js once you are admin because you need those rigths to do so. tatari

Wiktionary (and wikipedia) script install

If you are not an admin, but would like to install this on marathi wikipedia or marathi wiktionary, follow this procedure -

• Create your own monobook.js as User/monobook.js. For me, it would be User:अभय नातू/monobook.js For you, it will be User:mahitgar/monobook.js
• Copy http://mr.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Monobook.js to the new page
• Add the section as give by Tatari to the newly created page.
• Hit Ctrl-F5 or Ctrl-Refresh

• You're in business :-)

Let me congratulate you first. Hope that you will carry on doing good work. I could see German language Message file being extensive. May be we can use that as template. हो, एकंदरीत फाँटची अडचण बर्‍याच जणांना येणार आहे. कारण, बहुसंख्य काँप्युटर व्हेंडर्स विंडोज्‌ इन्स्टॉल केल्यावर US English चे लोकेल ठेवून देतात. कित्येक वेळा त्यांनाच 'इंडिक लँग्वेज सपोर्ट'बद्दल माहिती नसते. त्यामुळे सुरुवातीला युनिकोड देवनागरीमध्ये असणार्‍या संकेतस्थळांवरचे सदस्य (मायबोली, मनोगत इत्यादी), देवनागरीमध्ये ब्लॉग लिहिणारे नेटिझन यांना लक्षून प्रसार करावा लागणार आहे. कारण या लोकांना युनिकोडसंबंधित माहिती असायची शक्यता बरीच आहे.

बाकी पत्रकार मित्रमंडळींना सध्या असे काही दाखवायचे असल्यास आपल्या घरी आणून डेमो दाखवणे हा सोपा मार्ग वाटतो. :)

मराठीतून विकिवर लिखाण करता येणे

नमस्कार, मराठीतून विकिवर लिखाण करता येणे, हा विषय भरपूर चघळला गेला असेलच तरी विचारतो. विकिवर मराठी मध्ये टंकन न करता येण्याने लेख वाढण्यात मोठाच अडथळा आहे असे वाटते. मी सध्या गमभन वापरून येथील लेख लिहितो आहे. मात्र त्याच वेळी हिंदी विकिवर मात्र सहजतेने हिंदीतून टंकन करता येते आहे. हीच प्रणाली येथे नाही का आणता येणार?
